Whitehorse Walmart

Is overnighting, not camping, permitted at this Walmart. Thought I saw that it was banned after some idiot thought it was OK to build a fire ring with nearby decorative river rocks the proceed to have himself a campfire next to his trailer which had not moved in quite some time.

Here is a sign that the Whitehorse Wal Mart had up on our last visit. There were probably 75 RVs in their lot, when we stopped to shop for some supplies.

Allowing parking is a running battle in town, between the city and the owners of the campgrounds located there. Wal Mart seems to be somewhat neutral in the matter but does/did allow overnight parking.

They have a designated place to park for the night. Not sure if Canadian Tire next door allows or not, as they too have a very nice large parking lot.

Looked as though they were hosting an old Avion Truck camper rally. LOL Personally I can't see driving that far to enjoy more of the scenery and then park on the pavement at Wal Mart, but to each their own I guess.
Some do seem to set up "camp" at the store and us it as a base to travel out of to the surrounding areas. Slides out, chairs out, just like they were camping. LOL

Lizbard, every Walmart we have come across that restricts/denies RV parking had done so because of a local ordinance that does not allow them to have overnight parking for more than a few hours. Might be the reason you are coming across the barricades. Just a thought. Many people do not ask for permission to overnight, they just assume its OK. Never a good idea IMHO.

Permission is generally granted at Wal Marts, depending on local ordinances, size and ingress/egress to parking areas, expectations on how busy the store may be (WalMarts around us are usually happy to see your RV, but around the Holiday Rush they ask you not to stay!!). Some communities do not allow overnight sleeping in RVs except in designated camping areas as well. Always contact the store managers to make sure what the local rules are and to get permission. This avoids middle of the night knocks on the door from local P D telling you to leave!!
BTW, thanks for the tip on RV Parky Sandia Man! Just downloaded it and might be one of the most useful 99 cents I have spent in a long time. We do have Exit Now but that generally only helps while on the Interstates, which we try to avoid now that we are both retired!!

Don't know about that particular Walmart, a quick call to the store directly will yield the most accurate answer. I use an app called RV Parky that contains lots of great info including which Walmarts allow overnighting.

Don't know about that one, but a lot of the Walmarts are putting up those poles with cross beams to keep MHs out of the parking lots. Sometimes you have to find the way the trucks go in if you are wanting to purchase something there. After awhile last summer of finding the blockades, we decided the stores didn't want our money and went elsewhere. The book 'Next Exit' would tell us what stores were at the different exits. Most of the time, I was wanting to buy produce, maybe some meat, or paper supplies, but we would also like to add to our DVDs, books, magazines, or maybe some clothes.

The best thing is to get the special Atlas with the WalMart stores listed and call them.

NOTE: Make sure you know what your height is for those barricades as well as bridges.
