Windy conditions on I-40

Traveling West on I-40 from Amarillo to Holbrook, we have encountered westerly winds of 25-35 MPH with gusts to 55-60 MPH in the afternoon. We have started early and stop around noon in order avoid the high winds. This condition is to continue till the weekend. If you are planning to head west this week, it might be wise to look at I-10. • Windy here in Tucson, gusts to 25. I-10 between Willcox and Benson can be bad too. Wind warning Casa Grande north involving whole state. Be careful out there. Usually the wind decreases after the sun sets, but last few days have had windy nights too! Had to take down the wind chimes on S & B.
  • Check out this website when traveling through Arizona. It has a map that has all of the sign boards and what the message is.

  • We were in Chama NM Monday and rode the train to Osier. The wind at Osier was so strong my 3 year old grandson could not stand up in it. Had to carry him from the resturant back to the train for the return trip to Chama.
  • I'm from the Texas Panhandle. Some winds don't bother me but there is a point when you park the RV. We spend 3 months is SouthFork Colorado and have been dealing with 35 to 45 MPH winds. The natives say it will blow until the snow melts. I hate the wind, but can't seem to get away from it. Around the end of June winds will stop through the Panhandle and colorado. Be careful.
