5er at Mt. Ranier National Park

I live 3 hours away and am embarrassed to say I have never been to this park. We are considering a trip for next summer and would like some advise as to where to stay. Our fifth wheel is 31' and we would prefer some hook-ups plus reservation capability. In the park or close by would work for us. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I tried to post this in the RV Parks section but found it to be not available.
  • Mounthaven Resort is right outside the park entrance and is an excellent park. Weak Wifi tho unless they've done something about it.
  • My wife and kids drove thru there or should I say over Mt Rainer a few years ago in a gas rv. She said it looked like a short cut to vegas from Vancouver. Well we hit snow in july but what a site. Wish I had of know there was a park we would have stopped.
  • Here's another vote for Mount Haven RV Resort. Very nice little park. So make reservations early.
  • Moved to RV Parks, Campgrounds, and Attractions forum from 5th wheels.
  • We stay at Maple Grove RV Resort in Randle. It's a KM Resort so if you are KM members I would highly recommend Maple Grove. Pretty much equidistant to the Ohanipecosh entrance to Rainier and to the backside of St. Helens.

    X3!
Very nice private park just outside the Nisqually entrance.

  • We really liked Mounthaven -- great folks running the park. Try to get a spot in back, away from the road. Here is a blog post that may be useful to you:

  • The campgrounds inside the park are all dry and spaces are tight. I wouldn't recommend staying in any of them If you prefer public instead of private, Taidnapam Park on Hwy 12 is one of my favorites, if you park in the back and not along the lake. Any of the Tacoma Public Untility Campgrounds in that area are pretty nice and not far from Paradise.

We have stayed at Taidnapam and enjoyed the campground. I had never considered its proximity to Mt. Rainier NP but checked on a map and it looks like it could work. We are going with another couple and we might check out Mounthaven. Always looking for someplace new. Thanks all.
