- rexlionExplorerBeyond the Sentinel Point trailhead, Glacier Point Road has a 30 foot maximum vehicle length (and no trailers allowed). The last couple of miles have some tight twists and the parking lot isn't made to accomodate longer vehicles. But I would hate to see you miss out on the view from Glacier Point. It is my favorite place in the park. As an option, you could arrange to take the shuttle bus from the valley to Glacier Point and back.
- MtrainExplorerThanks for all of the advice. Will get there early and hope for the best!!!!
- Marv_HoagExplorerPrevious posters are correct, no gas in the valley. However, there is fuel at the junction of hwy 120 (Tioga Pass) and Big Oak Flat Rd. It is within the park and is usually very busy.
- Golden_HVACExplorerHi,
You might also want to check out the Grizzley Giant, a tree about 29' in diameter. When you go into Yosemite on highway 41, you can turn to the left for the valley, or to the right and go 2 miles to the parking lot to see the tree. There is bus parking here, as well as Glacier Point. I think that Glacier Point is about 20 mile drive from highway 41. You can check it on google maps. You can also check the elevations too! You are able to look directly down into the valley, even see the pools at one lodge. I took some telephoto pictures of Half Dome, and they showed the climbers on the top, along with the details of the chains that help them get up there safely!
Go EARLY in the morning for the best parking. There is no gas in Yosemite Valley, the lowest priced places to fill are near Fresno, and highway 99, everything else needs fuel trucked in and they charge for it!
Fred. - Marv_HoagExplorerHard enough to find parking for cars at Glacier Point. I would call and ask, to be sure. Its a long drive, I would want to know what is available at the top.
- rv2goExplorer III've seen lots of rental class C's there. Don't recall how long they were. Then there are tour buses there also.
PLEASE...Allow more than an hour if you go. - agesilausExplorer IIIThere is a big parking lot, I don't recall if there is RV parking. It's not a real short drive tho. There is a shuttle bus but the ticket prices were outrageous. The hike out to Washington dome is worth it but don't know if you can park an RV at the trailhead.
