Aloha State Park - Michigan

Can anyone give a review on Aloha State Park in Michigan? Thank you
  • Camped there several times when we lived in northern Michigan. I especially liked the grassy sites. The lake is sandy and shallow near the shore for swimming. There is also a canal from the lake in the middle of the park that offers the opportunity to keep a boat next to your campsite if that's something you'd like.

Mullet Lake is quite large and connects to a waterway that leads you through Indian River and over to Burt Lake. Or you can go into Cheboygan via water.
  • Just spent 4 nights there late last month.

Campground is on Mullett Lake. Many/most of the sites are grassy. Campsites are level. As noted on the reservation website a certain section of sites appear to retain water during wet times and probably should be avoided during rainy periods.

    They have several paved-paved campsites.

Overall, campsites are on the larger size (compared to other Michigan state parks). Couple dozen or so campsites are right on the lake. Another couple dozen or so sites located on the boat basin.

Looked like good fishing in the lake.

Nearest "civilization" is the city of Cheboygan, which is about 7 miles away.

Location of the park is close enough to Mackinaw City to make it an easy day trip.....as well as a trip over to Mackinac Island.

The four shower/restroom buildings are old but were clean when we were there.

Really bad state park. On the edge of large, cold, windy Mullet Lake. Always full on Labor Day weekend (at least for the last 30 years that I have been there!)

What type of review are you looking for? It is a state park with campsites in various sizes. Some are on waters edge, some on the boat basin. Believe that there is 4 Bathroom/Shower buildings, of the old design. Has double dump station. Playground equipment, and 30 amp service.
