This is the first time I have ever left a negative comment about a park, but I felt I had to about this park. I am refering to Ramblin Pines in Woodbine, Md. This is our second week long stay at this park. The park itself is basically OK, although pricey in my opinion for what it is. They do not offer discounts for weekly stays either. I had my daughter, 2 year old granddaughter and sister-in-law and brother-in-law visit from 3 PM to 7 PM yesterday. The park charged them $5 PER PERSON for a 4 hour visit. When I complained about it there response is that is the policy. (The policy states $5 for visitors. It DOES NOT specify $5 EACH). I then stated I was a bi-annual weekly camper and would not be back. Their response "Oh well!"I cannot recommend this park. On my next visit I will be looking elsewhere. When I said I was going to post my negative comments to the various forums I am a member of their response was again "Oh well!"The guest service demonstrated by the staff at this park and by the rules of this park was sorely lacking. I worked in guest services for several years and indeed taught our companies guest service program to ALL employees. This was an example of the exact opposite of what we taught and is an example of very poor guest service.

Seriously? Did you really expect it was $5 for an unspecified number of visitors? Truly you've been around the block enough to understand how these things work. Are you knocking their guest services because of the difference in interpretation of the rules and you lost, their seeming lack of interest in your threat to go elsewhere, or were there other breaches of rules by others that weren't enforced? You complain about the price and their lack of a discount for a week-long stay yet you still went but somehow it's their fault that you feel you overspent? Sorry, but sounds like a serious overreaction. Did you politely suggest they change the wording on the sign to make it clear it's $5 per guest? Honey goes a lot further than vinegar and it sounds like you were a bit sour with them.

Five dollars a visitor sounds fair enough.Explaining that to an unhappy payer takes some skill.Bad timing to dictate policy.

Has this rv park had problems with RVs coming in with 2 people then 20 guests arrive using services? Many RV parks charge for additional people.

Right there on their web page it states per person visitor $5 day and $10 per night.Just don't go back but your lack of recommendation will not help me decide if we want to stay there.

As soon as the visitor enters the CG they are covered by the CG's liability insurance. Should anything happen to the visitor while on CG property the CG maybe held liable.
Insurance is a large expense for aCG . Visors increase the CG's exposure to a potential claim. Unfortunately it not as simple as the visitors did not use any CG facilities

I'm pretty sure the reason you got the "Oh Well" treatment is because they know darn well that anyone who reads the review is also likely to view their website, where it clearly indicates that the fee is per person. Therefore, if that's the basis of your review, they're not the ones that look like they are in the wrong there.

I'm not expecting anyone to treat you any differently when you didn't take the time to look over the rules in the first place.

I just don't get people who expect visitors to not pay a fee because they don't use any services. Do you expect someone from the campground to follow your visitor or keep an eye on them to make sure they don't/didn't use the services? Where will they recoup the costs of dedicating someone to do that? Would you even appreciate being kept an eye on while you have a visitor? How else do you expect a campground to know that your visitor(s) did not use any services while someone else's visitor(s) did?

I think you may consider the reaction to your post as "poor" due to the fact that you did not understand (or read, apparently) the rules about pay the extra fee for visitors. It is your right to say what you want about a campground where you feel you were treated unfairly but once it is pointed out to you by the campground management, then it is their right to stand by their own policy.

I don't disagree with the extra charge, but I agree with her that customer service could have been a little better. A simple, "I'm sorry you didn't understood our policy, but it's always been that (or something to that effect)", might have gone a lot farther than "Oh, well"...

Right now they may have all the business they want but may not in the future if that is the service attitude they continue. I think I wouldn't want to go back either if treated that way (not because of the policy).

The campground we are currently staying at charges $10/day per guest, $5/day after 6pm and $15/night for overnight guests. Guests staying less than an hour are free. They have a Pool, a Lake with Rope Swing, several diving boards of varying height and several slides. This is included in the guest fee along with use of any of their many picnic tables, charcoal grills, ball fields, hot showers, free wifi, public fishing dock, etc.

We pay for our guests, so they don't have to. All of our family live within 20 minutes of this campground and they visit often. We live in GA, the campground is in NJ. For us it is worth paying the extra for guests to enjoy the time with our family, since we only visit a few times a year. Last year we stayed for a month, this year 6 weeks, next year probably 3 months. We'll go broke paying for guests, but spending so much time with friends and family makes living 800 miles away more bearable.

You stated both those things....but you didn't offer a solution of how the campground is going to verify exactly what your guests are doing.

The category I fit in is that I abide by what their rules are. If I didn't check before hand and get a clear understanding, then my problem. If I understand and don't like the rules, I don't stay. But I don't threaten the campground that I am going to try and harm their business for a rule that I failed to understand or agree with.

Of course people will cheat. They will justify it by saying it is unfair, it is someone being greedy, it goes against their sense of what is right, it really doesn't hurt anyone, it was only for a few minutes, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. I cheat. I cheat the speed limit almost daily. I cheated the grocery store the other day when they had lobsters on sale for $5.00 each, limit 5 per customer. I bought 5, checked out and went back in got 5 more and used a different checkout line. Human nature is such that each person's valuation and perception of situations is different. Hence we have contracts, and posted prices and posted rules and policies. Like you said, you are free to go stay someplace that doesn't have a policy that offends you. But no one should expect policies or pricing to be changed simply because they don't like it. No one was forcing anyone at gunpoint to stay there or bring in guests.

I also said if guests are going to use park amenities they should pay. You seem to think some people are going to cheat. I do not. Since you brought it up, Which category do you fit in?

Most of us have been the victims of a site near us having an excessive amount of visitors and making our stay less enjoyable. It may be a way for a campground to fleece a few bucks but at least they are managing crowds and abuse through fees.

They told my guests that their 2 hrs were in up in 15 minutes...10 minutes...5 minutes...."....
