Antioch, CA (east Bay area)

I want to visit my friend who lives near Antioch (actually in Pittsburg) this summer. So far my research shows Antioch Fairgrounds and Sugar Barge RV Park and Marina as the closest possibilities. The reviews on RVparkreviews.com are not recent.

Looking for any comments about these two places, or other suggestions?
  • Antioch & Pittsburg IMHO are the gateway to the beautiful California Delta from the Bay Area, do a Google search for California Delta RV Parks (with Google map), not much in Antioch, but plenty of RV Parks and Marinas near there. We stay in Rio Vista north of Antioch at the Delta Marina & RV Park. If it is just going to be a short visit I would stay at the Fairgrounds in Antioch. When we visit Antioch from Rio Vista we pay a $5.00 bridge toll getting back to Rio Vista on highway 160. The fairgrounds is near some good restaurants including the Red Lobster. Dick
  • Stayed at Sugar Barge. It was fine. Decent sites. Has a restaurant on the river - we didn't try out due to it only open during the summer.
  • I have stayed at the Antioch fairgrounds. It is usable and has water and electricity, but it has no scenery. It is like parking on a large gravel road.
  • I have never stayed at the fairgrounds, but there are usually a lot of RV's there when going by the fairgrounds. There is also a 1/4 mile dirt track there that gets used on weekends when racing is in season so it can get quite noisy. JMO
