Waters to cold for swimming by then so it thins out. Water level was also so low that the Castle Rock Cut was dry making it less appealing to those with boats. They are cutting it down an extra 20ft as we type and should be open by June. With the current snow in the mountains prediction is that the lake could rise 40' by June. - gmctoymanExplorerSpent a week there last Oct. - jdocter7ExplorerJust wanted to mention that they graded that road to the west leading to the beach this morning. Smooth as a baby's behind now!

Sounds too crowded for us. We're used to schools being out the 2nd week in June here in Oregon. I think we'll keep looking for somewhere less crowded.
What kind of place are you looking for? Perhaps we could help. Does it have to be on Lake Powell? In Arizona? Do you want hot temps or cooler? Etc.... - goducks10ExplorerSounds too crowded for us. - zman-azExplorerMost schools are done by the end of May. Weekends will be packed but if you get in on a Tuesday you may have a choice at a spot along the water. June will be real hot but nights do cool down. RV's can only do the west side of the beach as the sand is to deep the further down the beach you go. People will also be camping on top of one another to get beach side access. The one thing that will make or break the trip is the wind. If its windy expect to eat, drink and sleep with sand. It will find its way in your RV. If your in the area I would look at Jacob Lake. High elevation and great boondocking. Other option is the camp ground at Wahweep where you are out of the sand and have AC power but you will not be on the beach.

Sorry, just couldn't resist. Fabulous spot. - goducks10Explorer

It's summer. School is out. Like you, lots of people will be camping. Lots of people with ATV's and jet skies. Lots of beer drinking and noise. Lots of babes running around in next to nothing. ;)
On the other hand, there is lots of room.
Have fun
Ed
I don't think schools out for another week. Could be wrong but it's that way in Oregon.
Ya I was afraid it's too much of a party spot for us.
Just looked it up on a school chart. Looks like an early start to summer for the kids.
