Anyone Mountain bike in Asheville-Pisgah?

Looking to head to Asheville for a long weekend in Oct. Mostly for Asheville itself - breweries etc. But I also would like to do some mountain biking. Not familiar with the area but it looks like a lot of CG's to pick from. Anyone know a nice CG - full hookups near enough to downtown and also close enough to ride some trails?

We really like Lake Powhatan Recreation Area, great campground has a loop with full hookups. Can leave the campground right onto the trails, mountain bike and hiking.

Lake Powhatan Recreation Are

Close to Downtown Ashville

Awesome, this sounds perfect!

Narrowed down to Mama Gertie's, Powhattan, and Campfire lodgings. If anyone can recommend one over the others.

I always thought Asheville was a hot destination spot. Can't get much traction on this question.

Trailforks Asheville

Should be able to correlate CG/trails easy enough.

Thanks, Trail forks is a great site. I am sure I can put the pieces together but I always like to throw it out there to see if anyone has done it to learn what they learned.

not sure why you would expect responses from mtn bikers in less than 24 hours, on a RV forum. i would ask your question on a mtn bike forum, before i would ask on a RV forum.

i'm a MTBer and i always wished i could ride out there. but i've never been to the East Coast and there's always plenty of places to ride out West.:B

I checked the mtb resources I have including trail forks which is helpful, was hoping an RV'er would be able to put the pieces together for me.

Living on the East Coast, first MD then NC, has a wide array of trails, from ultra technical, to big drop freeriding to fast and flowing. Next year we are planning a several month cross country trip and mtb spots are on the list. Can't wait to ride out west/midwest.

I use Allstays campground finder.

I cannot help you with mountain biking questions but if it were me I would do a search for Asheville mountain biking or call up the campground once I pick one out and ask them. Most of the campground office personnel I have asked have good info on the amenities of a nearby area.
