I would recommend Biltmore as well. You can ride horses or bikes on trails around the grounds also. Just allow plenty of time to do it all. Downtown is a nice diversion for food and Bluegrass bands on the streets. I don't know your travel arrangements from Raleigh to Asheville, but Raleigh to Durham on I40 can be a parking lot on Friday afternoons. Driving time is about 4 3/4 hours from Raleigh to Asheville using I-40. Enjoy!

I vote for Biltmore also, just give yourself plenty of time. They closed before I was ready to leave. Looked at house. it is self guided tour (with a headset) so you can stop where you want to look more. walked the gardens, went in the shops, did the winery tour and tasting, and spent all day and wished for more time.
