Bent Pipe near the fire pit
We have seen a number of camps with the bent pipe about six feet high near the fire pits. It escapes us what it's primary purpose might be for, and tell us what you use it for please...? mike

I have found some fire grates have a hinged area where you can have the fire grate in a vertical position but it sounds like you have your answer now...
Before electric was added to the camp ground they all had a gas lamp hanger usually close to the picnic table to provide light for the camp ground spot.
Some of those gas lights lights really put off some great light and would burn all night with one fill up with white gas....
Back in those days all you needed to bring with you was a bag full of D-CELLS and a couple cans of white gas for the lantern, cook stove and heater. Now we bring the whole household setup with us...
