Looking for Great RV Resorts in FL Keys. We have stayed at Bluewater 2x but the price has gone up so much for deposit we are going to pass. Looking for other suggestions? Any news on Sugarloaf reopening? Thanks always!

take note that some of the rv "resorts" have pet restrictions. such as number and breed type..

we travel with 4 small dogs so that limits us. 2 pet limits at some of the florida cgs.

HA! If I want a spectacular tropical view all I have to do is stand in front of my trailer. I get the view everywhere I go. Seems way out of place in some CGs like Alaska.

Very nice! I always liked the Kodiak trailers from the mid โ€˜00โ€™s! They had some of the best graphics. Of course i love the mountains!

I used to drive down to the Keys five times a year and stay at Bahia Honda. Then stay at Fort Wilderness for a week on the way back.
I found it easier to buy a waterfront home in Big Pine.
The dog and I go over to Bahia Honda about every day to walk. All of the rangers there know "Christmas".
Yep, actually drove to all of these places---in the last eight years. Missed Rhode Island and New Jersey.

Take a look at Big Pine Key Fishing Lodge. They have campsites. Pool.Nice shower house. On the water. Key deer. No dogs allowed. It is not a resort like Blue Water. We walked around to check it out. We thought it was nice. Now we have a fur kid so we can't go there.
Look for Youtube videos of RV parks.

Rules for the Keys:

1) The season runs from around Thanksgiving to April
2) Be prepared to pay extravagant fees for the privilege of camping during the season
3) The further south and the closer you get to Key West will correspond with ever higher fees

The morale of this: camp there during the off season or as far north (Marathon) as you can get. You can always day trip to the south.

That photo is a good example of why we don't visit the Keys for anything more than day trips. Having a neighbor almost window to window with us is just not something we're interested in just to see the same water we can see farther north with more space and a lot lower cost.

JoeH - 4150 / night ?? Is that for $ 150 a night ?

You are right --- didn't press the shift key hard enough !
I've also been to Fiesta Key, but they are still $150/night for waterfront and you are packed in and don't have your own a private tiki and private dock. For the small incremental cost, I do Bluewater.

fyi- the AVERAGE price of a hotel room in KW during the season is around $400/night ( with tax) .... some higher, some lower. So, a $150-$200 night campsite , while expensive , is not really that crazy.

We've been going to the Keys since the early 70's and it's always been expense
