Best road to Yachats,Or.

End of August we will be heading back home to Sacramento from Bothell,Wa. We will stop in Yachats,Or for a few days. Heading South on I5, what is best road to take to Yachats pulling a 40' 5th wheel with dualy truck. Thanks in advance.
  • Fastest way to get to 101 is taking I5 to Longview and then crossing into Oregon and taking Hwy30
    West to Astoria.
  • Thank you all. it looks like it will be hwy 101. We may be getting a little home sick by the time were headed home but it sounds like hwy 101 is way to go.
    Thanks again.
  • Another vote for 101 - won't take much longer and there are a number of places to stop/enjoy along the way to Yachats.
  • Another thought; if you take 101 you get to bypass the traffic mess in Portland.
  • The prettiest is 101 down to Yachats. If your in a hurry this is not the road for you.. It goes through a lot of towns very pleasant drive.

The shortest is I5 to Corvallis over 20 to Yachats. Thats not very pretty and the road is slow but very nice.

In my opinion I5 to 126 to Yachats is the hardest because you will be going past Florance and just past Florance there is the Sea Lion Caves and Hecta Head light house. Very very tight road. All roads are doable but there is a very tight spot at Hecta Head.. Hope this helps.
  • Heading south on US 101 is the best way to drive it. If you're wanting to go to Yachats then why not take 101 down the coast? Beautiful drive. I wouldn't want to drive I-5 for any reason other than to make time. If you have the time then drive 101. If not then 126 at Eugene would be my choice.
  • My first choice would be Hwy 4 in Washington at Kelso and travel down 101. We love crossing the Astoria bridge and the whole drive is awesome.

Otherwise, 20 at Corvallis or 126 at Eugene.
