Big Rig Campground near Yosemite and Pebble Beach

Our summer RV Trip is taking us to the west coast and we want to visit Yosemite and then my husband wants to play golf at Pebble Beach. We have a 40 Ft Phaeton with 4 slides with a toad so need a big rig site. Any campground suggestions for either the Yosemite stop or Pebble Beach? We definitely need full hook ups with 50 Amp and like to have wifi and prefer a pull thru but don't really use any of the facilities so mostly concerned about a decent place to park that gets us close to each destination. Thanks.
  • We have stayed at the Mariposa KOA when going to Yosemite. It is about an hour drive to the park from there. We just got up early each day and drove in and parked in the big lot by the village to hang out during the day. Bring bikes with locks, its the best way to see the valley.

In Marina, by Pebble Beach, there is an RV park for big rigs. It is Marina Dunes RV Park. I haven't stayed there, we live close, but we did a driver through one day and it looks nice. Website is: Marina Dunes RV Park

If you have a toad, make sure to drive down the coast to Big Sur. It is worth the day!

    Enjoy your trip!
  • Marina Dunes RV Park is very nice. Around 12 miles north of Pebble Beach. There also is the Monterey Fairgrounds. A little hard to get to but Carmel by the River Rv park is very nice also.
  • Indian Flat RV park has a few big rig sites and is as close as you can get to any entrance to Yosemtite while staying at an RV park. It's about 20 mins to the valley from the town of El Portal. That said, you may want to check the length limit for the El Portal road with the construction and temporary bridge. You may exceed the limit with your toad.
  • Thanks kazmir, rollexx and jbrowland for the suggestions. We definitely will do the Big Sur Drive. I will check the length limit for the El Portal road as well--wouldn't have known about the construction or bridge work so appreciate the information.
  • Yanks RV Resort Greenfield California we stayed there for a week last year a new 5 star resort in the middle of nowhere

Has some of the longest sites I have ever seen

However about 50 miles to the course - we drove up twice to the area
  • Yosemite is extremely popular. It is not an area with parks designed for today's rigs. In the past, we've stayed at both the upper campground at Lake McClure & the fairgrounds in Mariposa. Both have at least partial hook-ups but may only be 30 amp. Pull-thrus are unlikely. The Lakes RV in Chowcilla is gorgeous but is a long drive out. We've done that also. We did not care for Marina RV. The summer we did a drive thru they had tent sites at the back of the back in sites. No thanks. There's a KOA at Moss Landing we used before it was a KOA. (I avoid West Coast KOA's.). We use Betabel RV on 101 to access all the highway 1 stuff. And most definitely keep the RV off 1. Great with a dinghy.
  • I have looked at the reviews for Indian Flat RV Park and they are pretty bad. Has anyone actually stayed there and is it OK if you aren't really using their facilities other than hookups?
