Big Rig Camping in the Florida Keys

We have been to the keys a few times, last year we stayed at Point of View in Key Largo ,and 2 years ago it was Blue Water Key down in Key West..

We want to return this summer and DW wants to try something different, we have a list of BIG RIG friendly places there, but cannot find it.

Each of our trips, we have driven through a few and wrote notes on the sites... We were surprised at just how small some of the sites were..

So, that leaves me to the pro's here . . We are looking for 50amp - full hook up - that will have ample room for a 42' fifth wheel with 4 slides and 2 awnings ( so it should be wide also) ..

Not exactly true, maybe the only one down in the keys. We have many state parks that have full hookup.

You are correct. It's the only one in the Keys. My mistake.
  • We love the waterfront sites at Bahia Honda State Park, but they are extremely hard to get. Water, 50 Amp, with a dump station, but you can swim, boat, fish from your site!

We just moved up from a 34ft Itasca to a 43ft Allegro Bus, and I felt like I won the lotto when I booked a spot long enough for us to fit in. We will be there for 2 weeks over 4th of July.

I usually book a night at John Pennecamp on the way out of the Keys, to use the Full hookups, and avoid the dump station at Bahia Honda.
  • We have a 38ft TT and stay at Boyds. It is tight, no doubt! They have full hook ups, and if needed, they have used a fork lift to shoe horn me into tight quarters.
  • Howdy!

We've stayed at Fiesta Key RV Resort in Fiesta key and Sunshine Key RV Resort in Sunshine Key with our MDT and 44' 5er TH. Sunshine Key is a bit closer to Key West but Fiesta Key was a lot nicer. We had a site right on the water at sunset point there.

  • Loved Geiger Key. Boyd's on Stock Island might be even better, depending on how you feel about staying outside of Key West, but being able to drive in and enjoy at your leisure. We also like Big Pine Key Fishing Lodge - just a bit farther down the keys from Marathon. Whatever you decide, you'll need reservations asap (well, maybe not in June, but winter is almost impossible). Enjoy!

  • I'm in the same predicament as you. I ultimately settled on Boyd's for this June. Only after asking questions and pouring over all of the satellite images and pictures that I could find. Still nervous about it though. I also agree about Curry Hammock..a nice little place that's easy in and out. I've stayed there but can't remember the sewer arrangements. I've also stayed at Long Key and it's mostly 90 degree back in sites.
  • Curry-Hammock. I don't believe it has sewer at site, but meets all your other requirements.
