Just have a notion that I'd like to visit Branson during the Thanksgiving/Christmas season and although I see the weather to be Cool(mid 30's - high 50's-60's), I'm not so sure about the drive from CA to Branson(road condition's that time of year). Haven't really looked too much yet, but assuming I'd be staying south for the drive.

So, I guess I'm looking for thoughts on driving their and also how much Cold weather prep might be really necessary for that area from those that may have spent time in Branson during these time periods. Just thinking about it at this point..we normally go into the desert that time of year but even Bull Head City surprised us last year with a Snow storm New Year's Day....:)

I think the chances of the weather being good are far better in November than in December. And the shows all close about the second week in December. Christmas is over in Branson.

Thank's everyone....it seems my wife got a Great deal on a Cruise with her girl friends in Dec....so unless we do go in Nov, it may have to wait until next year. I'm still on the fence but doing Branson during the Holiday season is a bucket list item whether it's Nov or Dec. one of these year's.

The good news is that November 1 kicks off Branson's Christmas season at the shows and at Silver Dollar City's amazing light displays, so you can enjoy an early start and still get what you're looking for.

We have been to Branson several times in early November in our fifth-wheel, back to the time when Andy Williams was still singing. The word in Branson was "It's Christmas in Branson when Andy Williams says it's Christmas!"

We have been fortunate to have had beautiful weather on every trip. I know it can be different, but this has been our experience.

We spend summers and falls in Branson. Because of the iffy December weather (sleet, freezing temps, ice slick hills) we leave mid-to-late November. The good news is that November 1 kicks off Branson's Christmas season at the shows and at Silver Dollar City's amazing light displays, so you can enjoy an early start and still get what you're looking for. If you come in October, you will see some of the most beautiful fall foliage to be found. Also lots to do. Sounds like a weird tourist attraction, but Harrison, AR is 35 miles south of Branson and its cemetery has over 100 mature maple trees that have awesome color in the fall. Travel from CA during October and November shouldn't pose any problems.

Yes, I would agree that 18 degree's might make it a tad difficult for this So. Cal resident to function well! :). I may have to alter my plans a bit but I've read so much about the Holiday lights and shows during that time of year....Oh well, we'll see.

We were also in Springfield/Branson in November last year. We had temps of 19 degrees and much colder with wind chill. It was not a happy time to be out doors. I do not know if this is the norm.

We were in Branson/Springfield area for most of Nov 2015. Branson has a wonderful veterans day celebration, i.e. large parade, vet's eat free in many locations, some show are free. However, it can get rather chilly (freezing at night) and chilly during the day. It's well worth the trip and you will enjoy. I highly recommend you visit the College of the Ozarks Museum, and see the AYO show at the Mickey Gilley theatre, They are the kids that were on Americas Got Talent that their mother was in a coma for 9 months after a car wreck and they sang to her while she was in the hospital. Great show!!!

It is not unusual at all to have ice and snow in December.
