Since we had a busy schedule planned in the Black Hills, we decided the campground didn't need to have any entertainment, but that we wanted a place that was reasonably priced, clean bathrooms, full hookups, and trees. Thus Big Pine Campground in Custer fit that bill for us.

Rafter J Bar. Full hookups, privacy roomy, and plenty of space to roam and enjoy the scenery.

We stayed at Rafter J and it was nice. But if Custer State Park campgrounds had electric,we would have stayed there. Some of them have electric now so that would be my choice.

I would stay there again it was such a great park

X2 We arrived in the middle of bike week last year and there were a good few sites available. Very friendly but only arrive from Custer. Theres a 9'6" tunnel the other way and some GPS's will route you that way. It's not fun!!!

We stayed at Game Lodge in Custer State Park and loved it. We hear really good things about Rafter J, too, but Game Lodge was WAY cheaper. If you can get by with just electric hookups, we definitely recommend it.
