Campground suggestions in MIchigan

In the Sleeping Bear Dunes area I would suggest Indigo Bluffs RV Park. Nice facility, closer to the dunes than Platte River, nice amenities. Most sites have water & electric, but there are some FHU sites.

In the U.P. near Munising there is Munising Tourist Park just west of the town along M-28. The park is on the shores of Lake Superior with nice views of Grand Island.

A bit further east of Munising is a very nice campground right in the small village of Grand Marais called Woodland Park. They don't take reservations, but you would have no trouble getting a site in September. The campground is on a bluff above Lake Superior and has water & electric hookups. You can walk into downtown. Check out the Lake Superior Brewing Co.

In the areas around the Mackinac Bridge Mill Creek is the go to place for most campers. We've never stayed there because we used to live about 55 miles from there and just made day trips to the island.

Absolutely x2 on Platte River Campground. One of our favorite campgrounds. Sites are large and private, and the facilities are great. Electric only, but worth running with onboard water and holding tanks for the great sites. Weekdays in September should not be a problem for getting a site, but weekends might be a bit tougher due to it's popularity.

We stayed at both Munising and St. Ignace KOA and both were good. For Sleeping Bear, we stayed at Indigo Bluffs

Sleeping Bear Dunes - Wild Cherry resort, half way between Suttons Bay and Leland (fish town) it has full hookups and a paper is delivered to your site every morning and the cost is just a little more than the state parks. Very quiet surrounded by cherry orchards.

If you travel near Sault Ste. Marie check out Neebish Island Resort on Neebish Island, Barbeau, Mi.
