Campgrounds in San Diego

I am going to a conference at the end of Oct. we are taking our MH. The conference will be held at the Marriott Del Mar in San Diego. I would like to stay somewhere near there. I looked at a campground near there but they have a rule no MH older than 15 years. My Mh is in like new shape but is now 22 years old so I may have a problem. Can anyone suggest a good camping spot for a week near the end of October In San Diego.

    Surf & Turf RV Park

This is your best choice. It puts you within a few miles of the Marriott. It is part of the Del Mar Race Track / Fair Grounds.

Be aware though that at certain times of year they reserve the whole campground for Race Track people. Check on that.

Correct. They close May 15 to the public and reopen on Sept 15. I know because I have a reservation for Sept 20.

I called them today and the recording said they will start taking reservations again after sepr 7th I put it on my calendar to call them.

  • At that time of the year, you should be able to find a spot at San Elijo State Beach. That's about 12 miles north of Del Mar.

  • KOA is one of their best and I don't think they have age limit.
  • Where you are going to this conference is a bit north of San Diego.

There is always, Campland on the bay.

If you want something inland there is Santee Lakes a really nice place

The KOA that was mentioned is south of San Diego in Chula Vista, I enjoyed my stays there.

If you want a really nice place there is there is Chula Vista Resort nice views a restaurant in the marina a very nice place.

All of these are a bit of a drive to where you are going to to the conference.

They all have maps and a clickey for directions so you can see how far you are from where you want to be. These will give you a start on the planning I hope, good luck.
  • The age rule is meant to keep ugly RVs out. Send a photo of your RV and a photo of you plus anyone else staying with you. You may be able to get an OK from management to stay there. Be sure to explain you will be staying ther on Business.

There are a couple of state parks north in Carlsbad / Oceanside area

There are others further east (including casinos) if you can't locate anything.

Try www.rvparkreviews.com to find the RV Parks within 50 miles of San Diego.
