Hello Fellow Rvers,My husband and I would like to stay two weeks in the Ventura Area, but either the SB's are first come, first serve. We stayed at the Ventura RV Beach Resort in 2007, and management was terrible. I have looked long and hard for other RV campgrounds, and I do like the beaches. We are looking in January 2016 for two weeks. Any advice or help, please?

Any advice or help, please?As far as I know, El Capatain, Refugio and Gaviota SB parks can be reserved but they have a limit on the length of the RV , 32' I think, call them and ask.

You can also stay on the Rincon beach. There is no hook up and it's first come first serve but there will be plenty of space in Jan. Not really a camp ground as much as a strip of beach you can camp along. You can't beat the views and you can hear the ocean at night. There is also lake casitas about 10 miles inland and it's pretty nice during the winter

You probably already found the bible for campgrounds out there Ventura Campgrounds the beach ones are nice but are first come first serve. As a fallback you have Foster Park or the locations up in Ojai.

I have stayed at the Ventura RV Resort/campground at the north end of Ventura for the last 3+ years with some of the moderators.Have always stayed at the very south end in the overflow no hookup area and really enjoyed it. Management does seem to change each year behind the desk but I believe the owner is the same.They are very strict about parking on the grass in the full hookups area. Admin

El Capitan has some hookup sites - depending on the loop.

Check out Faria Beach and nearby Hobson. Both have full hookups and are on the beach. We prefer Faria. There's also Emma Wood.

Loved McGrath, but alas, it's been closed for ever it seems. El Capitan and Refugio are nice, but no hookups.

I thank all of you. I will look into the city park, and at their website. I believe the private RV parks are getting too pricey. The SB is the way to go, as we like Seacliff SB in Santa Cruz. Paso Robles has two very nice RV parks, and one is not that badly priced.

I will let all of you know of my action, but once again, I appreciate your help and assistance.

We stay at ocean Mesa which is owned by el capital canyon. It's a little price but a super nice little campground.

Throw my 2 cents in . . . We tried to stay at Rincon before school let out in June. Packed. Lots of RV's cruising, watching for departures. So we spent a couple of days at the private park in Ventura. Our only concern was that the rules about where to park, dogs off leash, etc., we're not being enforced. Surprised me after reading their reviews. Next time in the area, we'll park the RV in the day use area, and cruise for a spot in the dinghy. Then bring the RV in. Hoping that won't be necessary late October. On the other hand, I like full hook-ups.

Foster Park is actually very nice. It is small and secluded with FHU and concrete pads for $35/night. It is 10 minutes from the beach and 10 minutes from Ojai. It is reservable through the Ventura County Parks website. It is our goto "local" campground at 1hr away, far enough to feel like we have left home, but close enough for a quick get away. Spend a couple hrs at the beach, drive back and fire under the trees. If you like cycling it has access to the Ojai to Ventura bike path.

Gosh, Thank you for your support and help. My first choice is the State Beaches, and I do know it is first come, first serve, but we can try.

If there are any other tips, please come forward.

There is also Lake Casitas inland.

But, I agree - in January, you will have no trouble getting into Faria, which is on the beach, but also has a bathhouse and some FHU sites. Come early. I am not sure how long you can stay though.

It is very nice there - I was only there for 3 nights, but there was a nice community feel.
