Looking to see comments on campgrounds you have visited in the Mount Rushmore vicinity. Will have 32' 5th wheel and be looking for full hookups. I have been to the palmer gulch koa several years ago but was just quoted prices of approx $98 a night. So I am looking for alternatives.

If you're planning on visiting in the next two weeks, the Sturgis motorcycle rally is going on...prices are greatly inflated and almost no spaces available....week of 24th August and beyond will be cheaper

Rafter J Bar Ranch CG - superb, if you're in the Island or Ranch Camp sections. The previous statement about Sturgis prices is right on.

This will be next year. And unfortunately it will be clipping the tail end of "bike week" it would be Aug 8-12.

Ditto on Beaver Lake. DW and I stayed there a few years ago. Haven't made it back but would stay there again

Heading back to Beaver Lake for our second time. Was there in 2011 and found it a great place to stay.

Good! I strongly recommend reservations, since you'll be overlapping Sturgis week. Put it on your calendar to call in November! :)

X2 on Rafter J being quiet. We also liked the fact that it was close to Crazy Horse as well as Rushmore.

We just stayed at Beaver Lake a couple of weeks ago. Highly recommend it. Would stay there again.
