Chattanooga thanksgiving

Hi everyone. Just trying to think of places to go over thanksgiving that’s little warmer and 8 or so hours from NE Ohio. Are there things to do and campgrounds open?
  • Get busy making those reservations now. Thanksgiving is a very popular time for campgrounds. Allstays has a good list of cgs in and around Chattanooga.
    Chattanooga campgrounds.

There's plenty of things to do around Chattanooga, TN. I don't know what your hobbies are or your entertainment preferences are but we enjoyed Rock City especially with friends and family. It's technically in Georgia but it's only 15 minutes SW of Chattanooga.

There are quite a few history sites we enjoyed and the Chattanooga Aquarium.

Here is a link for activities and things to see.

  • Lots to do, campgrounds open and likely filling up. There are some very nice state parks in the area---Harrison Bay (TN), Cloudland Canyon (GA).

Weather may be pouring rain or nice, who knows. Not likely to be very cold.
  • A group of us are camping at Natural Tunnel State Park in Duffield, VA. Who knows what the weather will be, but we will be prepared for about anything. It was cool last year when we were in TN, and got down into the teens, but it was warmish during the day (60s). The temps should be about the same at NT, but if a front comes through, it might snow or it might be 70 degrees.

Their Christmas lighting of the tunnel begins the day after Thanksgiving and we are going to be there to participate. We have camped for the last 10-12 years, but we are staying closer to home. We do a complete Thanksgiving meal, turkey, dressing, gravy, green bean casserole, twice baked potatoes, deviled eggs, homemade rolls and at least one dessert.

Thanks! Just have to convince wife and kids! Actually shouldn’t be too hard. She’s a jingle bell. We see the Christmas lights in wheeling a few times through season.

Not to try to change the Subject - Have you thought about Washington DC? or the Beaches and or Williamsburg? Campgrounds are open and there are things to Do.

Might be just outside your range but we have often had Good Weather around Thanksgiving, and there is/are a Ton of things to Do. :)

    Just Another Option,
  • We liked Holiday Travel Park Of Chattanooga - it one mile over the border in Rossville Georgia - we stayed there for a week its in a quiet residential area
  • Search Tennessee state parks! There are many that offer a Thanksgiving dinner for around $15.00 + or -. One I'm familiar with is Henry Horton a bit south of Nashville and Southwest Murfreesboro!
  • We've stayed at Holiday Travel Park a couple of times, once for Thanksgiving. The aquarium in Chattanooga is very nice. That's the reason we went both times.
  • Best campground to stay in Chattanooga is Chester Frost, it is a county campground on the water. They have reservations online.
  • Raccoon Mountain Campground is just of of Chattanooga. We have stayed there before....
