Deadman's Road

Hello,
Looking at heading up Dead Man's Road west of Red Feathers Lakes this weekend, Colorado to camp. Has anyone been up there? Is the road in good shape this year? Are there any closures? Thanks in advance for any info!!

How far up or over are you planning to go? Heading all the way over to the Laramie River Valley? It's a dirt road, can frequently be washboard rough. It's twisty but not overly steep anywhere. You're in forest most of the time, not a lot of vistas to see the mountains until you get to the Valley. Several nice campgrounds to the south along FR103 -- Tunnel Campground is southernmost, there's also Brown's Park on the Glendevey Road.
  • Thanks Thom02099,
We generally head up to FR 319 and go south the open area. I just like to check to see if any conditions have changed from weather or logging operations. Thank you for the reply and I will check out FR 103.
    Have a good day!!
