We are looking to camp in the Lake Shasta area. Has anyone stayed at the Durango RV Resort in Red Bluff CA? What are your thoughts? Would you go back again?

Thanks

Durango is a great resort to stay at. Clean, nice with excellent amenities. The office staff is helpful and friendly. The grounds are very well kept with lots of space between sites. If you stay there we enjoyed an old fashion Chinese restaurant right downtown on Main Street.

Mt. Gate RV park just north of Redding is a nice park and only 5 miles to Shasta Lake.....which makes it a lot close then the 40 plus miles from Red Bluff to Shasta Lake.

Stayed there last May and it is a very nice park. Would stay again in a heartbeat if in the area.

We stay there a couple times each year......just stayed there about a week ago.. Durango is super clean and well maintained with spacious sites. Never ever saw any sign of homeless people as a previous poster mentioned....and we've been staying there for 4 or five years. Also, it is closer than lake Shasta than the 50 miles that another poster cited. Use Google maps to assure yourself of the distance you intend to travel from Durango.

I will state that for the budget conscience that Rolling Hills Casino is definitely an option if you don't mind the additional ~20 miles .

That is like 50 miles from Shasta Lake, why wouldn't you look for something a little close to the lake?

Take a look at Holiday RV park in Redding just as an example of a "little closer"

We have stayed there a few times as an overnight stop. The park is really clean with good amenities. There is a nice restaurant within walking distance. We plan to stay there in June on our way up to Oregon and on the way back. They usually have sites available. You can here the freeway but if its in the summer months you will have your air on anyway so not an issue for an overnight stop for us. The river is right next to the park which is pretty. I didn't see any homeless last year when we were there. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Try Rolling Hills Casino RV park in Corning, with Restaurants and more-nice and half the cost of Durango. Heard some homeless people live back by the river at Durango and complaints about I5 traffic noise.

We stayed at the Durango RV park 2 years ago and were very impressed. A little tricky to get in the park, but once I figured it out....it was quite easy. I made it harder.

Stayed there for 2 night in February 2015 - one of the nicest parks we have ever stayed in

The guy above that says its older is just plain wrong - it is very new

It is on my top ten parks ever list

We camped just east of that park at Red Bluff RV a few times, most recently this summer. The Red Bluff RV park is about 1/2 mile east of the freeway, it is an older but well maintained park, nice pool, large grass sites, and the owners graduated from Granada High, my alma mater, not the same class, but what the hay. Durango RV park appeared (from looking from the freeway)to be much newer, with paved sites. Looks like a nice park, but it is adjacent to the I-5. We will be heading up that way in July, and I'll probably stay at Red Bluff RV again. Think it will be quieter.
