Early spring camping in Catskills

Question

We want to try some early camping in the Catskills. Any suggestions for places to hike and bike? We have a class B and could also boondock for a few days. I have been trying to find places that open in mid-April but have not found any open until May.

Have you been to Minnewaska or Mohonk Mountain? Nice bike trails and some beautiful hiking. Mohonk is private and they charge an access fee (even more for bikes) but has some very unique and beautiful hiking trails.

Thanks for the suggestions.  While I have lived out here for many years, I never went to the New Paltz area; something always interfered. Now I have to see if my northern midwestern blood has not changed and can still handle cooler weather, but after the mud season.  As I write this I have to admit that it does not sound like a good idea!
