East Side Portland, Oregon Campground Suggestions?

My wife and I are going to spend about two weeks in June keeping our grandson company while his mom is out of town. We will be driving him to school each day for about a week. As it is in NE Portland we want to set up our rig in a park in that quadrant, as near in as possible.

I have done my due diligence, checking such sources as RV Park reviews. There seems to be nothing really close, and the couple that seem to be feasible are expensive and, at the same time, get poor to mediocre ratings.

Does anyone have firsthand knowledge of this area that they are willing to share?
  • As was said, traffic can be brutal during rush hour in Portland. I always stay at Jantzen Beach RV park and have never had any problems there. There are some surface roads that'll get you from point b-c, but then getting back to point A at Jantzen beach is rough. But then so are the parks off of I-84. I just grin and bear it and try to plan my traveling off hours.
  • All I know is that you should decide on where soon. We wanted to spend a month in the area and ended up at the 99 RV park in Vancouver as it was the only one that had monthlies. It worked out really great because it was near the 5 and 205. Easy ti get to either and depending on the time of day a piece of cake considering. The one that is near PDX is definitely the closest then Jantzen Beach. Our relatives live Near MLK and 31st

  • There is an OK RV park in Vancouver off exit 30 with good access to I205. However traffic congestion in the Portland area can be brutal if you are going the wrong way at the wrong time. I probably wouldn't recommend the Vancouver site and plan on traveling to meet a school schedule. Bring your rain coat and enjoy your visit.
  • i live in the portland metro area so i have not stayed at any of the parks.
just driving by then fairview rv park appears to be the nicest and easiest for freeway access.
  • Not much in NE that isn't noisy (near rail/airport). If you have access to car then you might consider expanding your search to south of Portland which has a nice park near I-5 not far from 205 which will take you to NE.
  • We stayed at the Fairview RV Resort last year and liked it. The train noise wasn't really bad and airport approaches depended on the wind direction. We would definitely stay there again.
  • Sandy river rv, portland fairview rv are both decent parks on portlands east side. Close in there is one on marine drive, but it is under the pdx flyway and quite noisy i have been told.
