We have stayed at Bluewater, but would like to try another RV resort in the Keys for Christmas '19. Suggestions? Any status on Sugarloaf KOA?
Thanks

The cold front hit Tampa last night.... only supposed to be in the 40's tomorrow morning.
We managed to get a spot at Pennekamp next month and will stay there prior to going to Bluewater for xmas and New Years

I'm at John Pennekamp now. I'm debating whether to go out in my boat or not. Small craft warnings just went up,and rain is imminent. Cold front is coming through this afternoon. The high temp. is only supposed to be 64 tomorrow.

At Key Largo Kampground. My son is leaving a waterfront site now, while I'm typing this. :B

Yep- forgot about them.... Good place for accessing John Pennekamp and the reef. The nearby Fish House is one of my go to places to eat. When we stop in Key Largo, it's usually for a night or 2 only, we prefer being closer to Key West. But,anywhere in the Keys is nice and every place has it's own particular "flavor" Here's a couple pics from the site we were on last month.

As of a couple weeks ago, Sugarloaf KOA is an empty lot with no activity going on.
I guess it depends what you want and where you want to be. El Mar on Stock Island is a good location, but has absolutely no amenities, not even bathrooms. Grassy Key RV is pretty nice, but you are packed in. Big Pine Key fishing Lodge is a great family run CG, but no dogs allowed due to the Key Deer tat roam the property.
You can try to get a spot at Curry Hammock SP, get online 11 months prior to when you want to arrive... good luck !
