With CC processing fees up to 3.5 percent or so (all depends on type of card etc..), there's no way any sort of short term savings account type of interest would ever pay for cost.
If you think the interest earned is staggering, you would be shocked beyond belief by the cc processing fees businesses have to pay.
Not to mention as wildtoad says, they like use your deposit as a cash influx, to pay current bills, and refunds come out of future receipts, as necessary.
