Fort Pickens Pensacola CLOSED

Fort Pickekns national campground south of Pensacola
is CLOSED due to a storm blowing sand over the entrance road.
This closure is expected to last several days. No campers are allowed
to enter, but those already camping there are allowed to stay.
  • They opened one lane today so people could leave or go for supplies. The storm was pretty bad. It was shaking our 5'er pretty good even with 6 stabilizers on the ground. There was 1-2' of sand on the road in places.
  • Even though we've driven out there many times the women-folk won't let me camp us there. They're afraid water will get over the road and they'll be trapped for the rest of their lives.

I got a good laugh out of that one!
And congrats on filling out your travel map. Is that for actually camping, or driving through?
