We have gone during late July and early August. Is it hot? Certainly. Just as others have said, go early, leave mid-day, and return later. Make use of the pool at FW. Get some bottled water in plastic bottles and freeze them. Take the frozen bottles with you and they will melt during the day and you will have cold water. Staying hydrated will help. You can also bring some snacks with you if you don't want buy food at the park.
