As career military I've lived across the U.S. and traveled around the world. Other than Afghanistan, the two places where the heat bothered me the most (note: not highest temps) were New Orleans and Orlando in July/August. It's splitting hairs to figure which is worse.
But, you've been given good strategies by the earlier posters and with full knowledge of the heat, I'll be there in July with my family. I wouldn't want to go in July with a toddler but if kids are old enough to be fully mobile and understand not to whine about the heat, have fun. I plan on being in a pool or by a pool in the middle of the day.
