Gatlinburg (again)

G'burg opened back up today for business. Went there today and it was very busy. Good to see it. Lots of serv-pro and service master trucks around still doing clean up but town is looking good. Seeing the burnt out structures and scorched land first hand really impacts you. The trees are still there mind you, it was all the leaves and underbrush that really burned which lit up the structures, 2500 of them gone.
  • Little has been released on these kids so we can speculate all we want to and it won't change anything at this point. I wont indict their parents either at this point. Kids will be kids and they don't think things through when they think its fun or what have you. I have heard that they are 14, I don't know anything certain though. 14 year olds can be pretty stupid and not understand what may happen because of their actions.

:M I am very distraught that any one would want to destroy the beauty of such a scenic area!! Fourteen residents lost their lives and about 100 were injured by young teens who were not raised properly and at their age should have known better. The deaths and injuries is what upsets me the most:M
I know many of the residents and business owners worked hard with blood, sweat and tears as I have just to have a bit of financial security in their elderly years!

Parents and authorities, I ask again please teach the children respect, values and honor when they are old enough to talk, walk and understand!!

:C I'll add also that parents need to provide supervision as well. It can save many lives.

We rode over on Friday morning when it opened up, Chalet Village was almost all gone. Yes it was very disturbing seeing all of that devastation and knowing what the guest and residents up there went through getting down off the side of that mountain.
  • I saw that and it looks as though most of the businesses on the parkway and Historic Natur Trail are open.
