General RV Park Question..

Good Day.
We've been out of RVing for about 5yrs now and are thinking about getting back into it to get out and spend some time with family in the OR and maybe down to the AZ desert.

My question is, do most Parks still have rules about not allowing rigs over 10yrs old to stay at their parks??

We are looking at some very nice older rigs, but if it's a pain to stay in many parks due to the rigs age, we may rethink this.

Thanks for any comments offered.

The issue is people dumping older RVs at parks (and storage facilities) instead of paying to have it junked. If a park has this rule, call and ask if you can send a pic of your rig before you make reservations. Then send them a pic of a brand new Prevost j/k.

I only had to send a pic once and they called back right away and said I was welcome.

No CG worth staying in wants anything that is going to devalue the neighbourhood so to speak. Non of us are real fussy about CGs loaded with seasonals that have been sitting there for years. Nobody wants the Clampets next to them.

Rules like this enable a CG to enforce a standard of appearance. Age does not matter as long as the rig is in decent condition.

I donโ€™t think itโ€™s ever been โ€œmost parksโ€. Some do but Iโ€™ve not ran into that yet.

I personally have never had a problem rolling in with my 1999 trailer, but I tend to avoid places that would prohibit such a unit mainly because the price would be out of my reach. However, When riding with my boss and his 2001 Fleetwood RV, we were questioned for a few minutes about the unit at a few places before they would allow us to get a site.It seems it is not so much a firm yes or no based on the model year, but an overall condition and appearance.

Iโ€™ve never seen or heard of an instance where the 10 year rule was anything short of a tool to deal with undesirables.

Iโ€™ve checked into MANY places with a 10 year rule in my now 23 year old Class C, nobody has ever said a word about it.

Good idea to always call the RV Park/Resort before you show up. Many Resort Parks have the 10 year rule. Some ask you send them pictures before you arrive or if you just show up they will physically inspect your RV. Some of the fancier Parks have length restrictions i.e. no RV's shorter than 26'.ct your RV. If your RV has no major issues broken windows, tears in the siding, torn awnings etc. etc. you should not have any problems. This sounds subjective but you really don't want an old junky RV next to you in the park. It is not so much age of the RV but rather is it well maintained and looks good. The fancier the Resort/RV Park the greater the number of restrictions. It depends on how important amenities are to you which is just personal taste.

We are gone 3 or 4 months a year and never stay more then a week in one place. Never had anyone ask how old our 2004 rig is.

Most do not have restrictions!
