I'd like recommendations from those of you who have been to SPs or private campgrounds in the Georgia mountains. FHU are preferred but not a deal killer. We have a 30 ft TT, DW enjoys pottery shopping and going to unique shops that you wouldn't find in a mall. We are thinking of summer of 2016 to make this trip, I just enjoy being outside and would love cooler temps than the ones we have in Florida during the summer. Thanks for all the help.

Might not be far enough North in the dead of summer but I might be trying out Stone Mountain here in a few weeks (Near Atlanta).

We loved River Vista in Dillard. We actually love the whole area. We had a cabin in Rabun Gap, which is right next door to Dillard. I'm not so sure River Vista will have the cool temps in the summer the OP is looking for since it's right off 441 and not in elevation. Otherwise, it would be a great place to stay in the fall for the leaves.

River Vista RV Resort in Dillard is one of the very nicest places we have ever stayed. It is situated in a gorgeous location in Rabun County, a little sliver of northeast Georgia between NC and SC. Spectacular mountain views. On the Appalachian trail. Waterfalls everywhere. Minutes to Highland, NC, Lake Burton (unbelievable), Talulah Gorge and Helen GA. Rabun County has it all. Where Deliverance and Great Locomotive Chase (Disney) were filmed.

The park itself is very nice, with great facilities, nice people and reasonable rates. Pet friendly. There are a lot of very nice park models, but visitors and RV'ers are just as welcome and have lots of appealing choices to hook up.

Highly recommended. A destination in itself.

Haven't been to Ft Mountain since 2007 but at that time, there were several Gray Water Drain places inside the campground loops that I associated with sink water like from a popup camper. A ranger told me we could use these drains for our gray water as long as we didn't let it overflow. Nice shaded park in the clouds from time to time.

We live very near Stone Mountain and it is not considered "Mountain Cool" by any means. The heat and humidity this summer has been the worst in 3 years. Glad you want to make it a place to see but be aware of the heat! Probably will not cool down until last Sept. Or later.
Ga. born and lve it but this year has been a killer!!

Vogel State Park is the best for this family - this has been our favorite for many decades. We have traveled extensively in our motorhome, but pulling into Vogel is like 'going home'. A beautiful park, great staff, things to do for every age. Note: And we live in Dahlonega, which is the site of the first major gold rush in our country; only about 25 miles over the mountain from Vogel.

Ft. Mountain is nice. I'd forgotten about that one but I hear they've improved the roads a bit.
