Glacier National Park in July

You might check our the KOA in West Glacier. It is the nicest KOA we have ever been in and it seemed like there were alot of activities going on. In Yellowstone National Park you won't find zip lines or video games, but you will find beautiful scenery, great hiking, and a whole bunch of wild animals. So teach the kids to appreciate nature. They will moan and complain, but thank you when they get older. Have a great trip.

We plan for those also in late May. Want to hit Zion, Bryce, Arches, Grand Teton plus more on the same trip. Enjoy!

There is a lot more to do on the West side as it is much more developed. There is very little on the east side but it is pretty. Very windy too!

I have stayed at 27 KOA's in past 5 years - this one does not even rate in my top 10

Hopefully the Going to the Sun road will be open by July. Varies depending of snowfall. To fully to enjoy the Park you need to spend several days on each side. Personally, I like the East side best. The area around the West entrance is crowded.
There is a KOA in St. Mary's on the East side.
Staying on the East side you have the opportunity to visit the Waterton Park in Canada. Then on the east side be sure to visit Many Glacier and Two Medicine.
Drive up to Logan Pass from the east or west and hike out to Hidden Lake.

In Glacier we stayed at St Mary CG on the east side at the entrance. To keep the kids challenged (not necessarily happy) take some good hiking boots. There are many places to hike; no roller coasters or ferris wheels, etc. It is definitely not Disney.

VA Rebel - Both sides of the Glacier National Park are beautiful. We have stayed in East Glacier, Many Glacier, Waterton, and Lake Macdonald. All wonderful. The most spectacular mountain spot in the USA to me is Many Glacier. The campground there is OK for all size rigs. From there you can take the boat and hike up to see Grinnell Glacier (hope I got spelling right). Just the play of light on the lakes and surrounding mountains is worth the trip. Go to the lodge and sit around the open fireplaces. Watch the sunset.

A bit north is Waterton Park. The RV park there takes rigs of all size. The view from the close by Prince of Wales lodge is breath taking. I recommend afternoon high tea at the lodge, but teen agers will moan.

We have also stayed on the east side a couple of times.

We stayed 3 nights on each side. They are very different.

I've seen snow up on Logans Pass in the middle of July. We were on our Gold Wing.
