Ted, last year was our first snowbird trip to Florida. Coming down from Michigan we first stopped at Rock Crusher Canyon RV Park in Crystal River for 3 nights so that we could shake the road off. Then we worked our way south, stopping at Wesley Chapel for 2 nights, then Osprey (a reservation at Oscar Scherer St Park) for 9 nights. From there it was a long haul down to Marathon in the Keys for 4 nights and then back up to Miami Everglades RV Park for a week. Then up US27 to Sebring for 3 nights and then Winter Haven for 3 nights. Then 2 nights at a private home with friends and then up to Umatilla NW of Orlando for another 3 nights. Then finally we headed back to Crystal River for 3 nights before heading home. That was about 6 weeks worth and while we didn't really make all those reservations in advance we did usually call ahead a couple of days in advance to make sure we had a spot where we wanted it. So we went from north to south and then back north again from about the first of February to mid-March.
Thanks for the information

Since it's are first time as snowbirds we will just be traveling the state to see what area we like and get to warm.
We thought we would start at the top end and travel from there.

Do it in reverse, start in the south of Florida and go North as the winter ends and the northern part of the state warms up. - napanee_tedExplorer

Even when it gets cool in Florida, it beats the heck out of single digit temps and the only thing to shovel here is Sand.
That is the way that I think also.
Can't wait to feel the heat again other than turning up the furnace!!!! - Michelle_SExplorer IIIEven when it gets cool in Florida, it beats the heck out of single digit temps and the only thing to shovel here is Sand.
- IvylogExplorer IIIThe dip in the jet stream looks like it's moving to Fla from TX... cold WX coming end of this week and next week so I'd start in the south and then work back north as it warms back up.
WPB forecast.
Ocala forecast.
Lake City forecast. - napanee_tedExplorer
