Golf Carts

Did a search but got back too many hits. A work buddy has just bought a golf cart. We were having a discussion on whether or not they were allowed in Virginia state parks or national park campgrounds. I have never seen one at either and doing a search on their websites did not turn up any info. Does anyone here know or have the link to the policy?

thanks,
  • I researched last year when we went to Kiptopeke SP in Cape Charles VA.
(wonderful cg by the way) but no golf carts allowed.
state parks require proof of disability to have one and to use it. At Huntington State Park in SC there was one golf cart and they had the disability sticker and were also allowed on the beach with it.

when in doubt call the park for specific info on golf carts.
  • Don't believe golf carts will be allowed in NP's and most state parks. Even at campgrounds you normally have to have insurance on them. Ocean Lakes in Myrtle Beach requires $50,000 liability on them.
  • Don't believe you can use a golf cart in VA state parks . Never seen one except the camp host at Smith Mounting Lake using one.
  • Texas state parks require all vehicles on park roads to be fully street legal.

The quickest way to get an answer is to call the office of a park you're considering visiting.
  • NPs site is down due to budget. Most say that all vehicles must be street legal.
Virginia statute Title 58 Series 31 para 219 says motor vehicles
