great spot without a car?

We're planning our spring break trip for next March and are looking for someplace warm (and warm is relative since we'll be coming from Iowa!)to camp for a week. We won't be towing a car, so would like to be able to walk or ride our bikes to town for shopping and restaurants. Close to a beach or lake would also be nice. Alternately, we do have a golf cart and could tow that, so if you know of anyplace where we could bring our own golf cart for buzzing around, we'd like to hear about it!

    Port Aransas was pretty nice in February the year we went, used the local shuttle to get around. You can be near town, near a beach, on a beach, but not necessarily all at the same time. RV park choices might include one or two.

    Warm weather not guaranteed, but should not get below 40 F for very long if a cold air mass moves in, could be much warmer if in Gulf air mass. Can get windy or wet.

    I prefer going to San Antonio for March, but no beach.

    Look at the Rockport/Aransas Pass TX area. It'll be along 2 day drive but doable. Galveston is another area to check.

    Gulf Shores - if you all have bikes you can easily get around town and to the beautiful beach! If you have baskets, you can even grocery shop with your bikes.

    In March your going to have to go at least to Orlando Florida or further south to be guaranteed warm temps. Any further north and it's going to be cool even during daytime.

    Gulf shores u need a car. The campground is almost 1 mile from exit to entrance but highly recommend otherwise Panama City which is walking of one block to beach as well as few places to eat. If u have bikes, easy to bike around.

    Henderson Beach State Park in Destin Florida may be a great choice. Restaurants and shopping across the highway. Very nice sites and well run park.

    I think Myrtle Beach would probably be too far. I'm thinking maybe a two day drive, which means around 1,200 miles. Would love to get to Sanibel Island in Florida, but that's probably too far. We'll check out Gulf State Park!

    Myrtle Beach Travel Park in Myrtle Beach, SC is about a mile from eateries, Walmart and a large shopping center. Side walk all the way.
    Plus it's on the ocean. Take a look on Google Maps.

    Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores, AL. Beach is not on the beach, so you avoid some of the cooler wind, but there are miles of bike paths. It's all flat and you are not far from some really good eating. The Walmart is about 1 1/2 miles away through the park and across a highway, so you can shop there.

    I don't know where you are located in Iowa, but it's a long drive to get to any warm weather and Gulf Shores has lots of things for every age group.
