Green Gate Grove Park in RGV

Found this park in Park Reviews with excellant scores. Understand thru their web site that it is an owner park. That being said, there seems to be lots for rent at a reasonable price. The pictures seem to show some nice size lots. Being the first excursion down to valley I thought someone on forum might know the park and make a recommendation, good or bad. Thinking of being in the valley for 3-4 months to get the feel of the valley. Been going to AZ past ten years but need a change.

We were just down there last week looking at possible destinations for when we retire. GGV is a very nice park with much more of a rural atmosphere than the ones in the heart of the cities. Our only concern was the distance to shopping. Having lived in the country all of our lives we are looking to "move to town" so we are close to everything. If you are interested in the Mission area this is probably the nicest park for the money. In Donna we liked Victoria Palms. Not to seem snobbish but a lot of the parks in the RGV just look trashy. Both Green Gate Grove and Victoria Palms were very attractive parks.

We went to GGG to rent a lot and bought one instead. That was in 2009. It is a very pretty park and just the right size for us. I see no difference in being in Mission, Pharr, Donna or Harlingen. The parks are centered in the heart of Mexican communities. Accept the cultural differences and you will be fine. We don't leave the park at night either but we don't go out much at night when we are at home in Missouri or Oklahoma which has more to do with how well we see at night, not fear.

Or,
You might consider this park in the RGV, in Mercedes.

Pros:

Nice wide streets, lots of palm trees, very nice people, small but super pool/hot tub area, huge clubhouse with lots of activities, gated and secure, close to the birding center/shopping/restaurants/flea market/Mexico, owners take pride in their lots, neighbors watch out for each other, good overall park.

Cons:

Located in Mission which to me is part of the Barrio area of the RGV. Would never take a walk outside of the park, and never saw anyone else do it either (YMMV). After dark I stopped speaking the language outside of the fenced "compound." Paid top dollar per KW. No WiFi other than clubhouse. Cable TV depends on lot(I think.) We got hitch itch after about a week, even though we stayed a month. Can't imagine spending three months unless you enjoy doing park activities and staying in at night.

Thereโ€™s no fool, like an old fool.

we have gone to the valley for 5 yrs. During this time we drove thru Green Gate Grove many times. It is a beautiful park. After 3 yrs we decided we wanted to own our lot so we went to GGG and rented a lot to see what we thought of being there. Needless to say we purchased an RV lot within 1 month and a year later sold that and bought a park model . It is a pretty park and the people we have met are very nice. It is definitely worth checking out.
