Checking if anyone is familiar with the Harrisonburg/Shenandoah KOA and Endless Caverns campgrounds.
We plan to pick up my 4yr old granddaughter from the Burger King (coming from WVA) at the intersection of Rt81 / Rt259 and both campgrounds are about the same distance.
Basically interested in kids stuff to do, campground layout/size, etc.
We stayed at Endless Caverns a few years ago and really enjoyed it. Nice campground , not a whole lot to do for the kids ,but enough to keep them busy for a day or 2 .
We also drove about 20 minutes and took a morning horse back ride all through the mountains ,that was awesome..
The Kids spent a lot of time hiking up the mountain , they wanted to get to the big Endless caverns sign that you can see from 81 . . they made it !
Not to mention they have their own caverns!- CeciltExplorerBeen to both. Recommend both. At Endless Caverns you the Caverns are right on site which is great. Outside of that not much to do on site. Very big campground. They have a pool but of course not open until Memorial Day.
Harrisonburg KOA is about 3 miles off 81. Owners are great. Woodsy feel and not like many KOA's. They have a playground. Can't go wrong with either. - phillygExplorer IIIt's been 8-10 years or so, but we used to live near there and went to the KOA a few times. Unless it's changed, it's one of the nicer CGs in the Shen Valley. Have never stayed at Endless Caverns.
- skilesExplorerI'm not sure what proximity this is to where you will be but there is the Natural Bridge Jellystone Park. They have lots of kids activities.
- LumpyOatmealExplorerI would recommend the KOA. This is a family run KOA (not corp.).
They are a great host. Play ground, Fishing pond, Hiking trail into the National Forest. The hosts even have a flock of chickens that will come visit you.
We try to stay there at least once a year.

About an hour drive from Natural Bridge to Harrisonburg, probably a little out of the way for the OP.

Luray Jellystone is much closer and much nicer than the Jellystone in Natural Bridge if you want to go that route.
