East and West are both horrible. Oh, by the way, they fixed it by putting yellow
" rough road " signs on the Highway. Lol
To the OP, we really like Flagstaff KOA. It is right at the base of Elden Mountain which has a ton of hiking, close to town and Sunset Crater. It gets bad reviews online because
a lot of the sites are not level and there are trees overhanging on the entry road. They are open year round, and now, should be extra quiet. There are 10-20 great sites there and you should have your pick of them. The hosts are very, very nice people. Think you will enjoy it, especially in a smaller coach. Weather there now is gorgeous. Mid- high 60s during the day and mid- low 30s at coldest. Have a safe, fun trip. - Passin_ThruExplorerWe heard they were going to repair I 40 in 1972. No wait! It wasn't open yet but 66 was so bumpy you would fly through the windshield. AZ, LA, MS, CA, LA are the worst about repairing roads. What happend to the 12 cent a galon fuel tax they had to have to fix the roads? Oops, in my rant I forgot. Find a campground protected from the SW winds, they can blow at 70 MPH in the spring and it can get quite dusty.
- BettyBoop7ExplorerMy granddaughter and I enjoyed Oak Creek Canyon with the Indians selling their jewelry. Also loved Jerome.
- Desert_CaptainExplorer IIIIf you need to stop near Kingman the Blake Ranch RV park (on I40 a few miles east of Kingman), is a good choice. As noted above Sunset Crater on the north side of Flagstaff and Pinegrove to the southeast are awesome CG's. For the Sedona area you can't beat Dead Horse Ranch SP, 18 easy miles up to Sedona and the towns of Cottonwood and Jerome offer lots to see and do. Enjoy!

- PigkisserExplorer IIIWe like Rancho Sedona RV Park in Sedona. Very nice and convenient to everything.
- soricobobExplorerEast of Flag, in Winslow, is The Turqoise Room Restaurant at La Posada; best in the State!
- JanssExplorer III second Bonito Forest Service Campground by Sunset Crater. Wonderful place, but if you're traveling there now, it's probably not open. Opening date last year was May 3 according to their webpage. Pinegrove FS CG in Flagstaff is also great, but probably not open now. Check RVParkReviews.com for others in Flagstaff. Unfortunately none of the others get very good reviews.
Cave Springs FS CG in Oak Creek Canyon between Flagstaff and Sedona may be open. Or you may want to stay right in central Sedona at Rancho Sedona RV Park. It's the only RV park in Sedona. It's a good park. Dead Horse Ranch State Park, as mentioned, is always a good choice too.
Have you been to the Grand Canyon?
Recommended Flagstaff attractions include Sunset Crater/Wupatki Nat'l Monument, Walnut Canyon Nat'l Monument, Museum of Northern AZ, Lowell Observatory, wander around historic downtown Flagstaff. In Sedona, scenery is all around. Take a hike on any of the multitude of trails. Visit Bell Rock, Chapel of the Holy Cross, Red Rock Crossing, Oak Creek Canyon, Tlaquepaque shopping village, just to name a few.
If you are sightseeing with your RV, a few of those places may be unsuitable for parking (like the Chapel, some trailheads, etc.). You might want to take a Sedona Trolley tour or Jeep Tour or rent a car locally for a day or two.
Have a great time! - mileshuffExplorerWe love Grand Canyon Railroad RV park in Williams. It's a full service RV resort with access to the hotel area for use of pool, restaurant etc. The town itself is an fashioned route 66 small town. Fun restaurants, music etc. Bearizona is a drive through park with numerous bears and other animals wandering as well as a great zoo area to walk through.
A few miles east of Williams is Circle Pines KOA. A very nice RV park in a more forested environment than the park mentioned above. Camp fires are allowed here.
In Flagstaff the only RV park I'd recommend is Woody Mountain. Its a forested area but camp fires are not allowed.
South of Flagstaff is Ft. Tuthill state park campground. Forested, cheap and clean but only a few spots have hookups. Good for a nights stay when no hookups are needed. Water is available from scattered spigots. - 2gypsies1Explorer IIII'm not sure if it's open yet or not but a great scenic forest service campground is at the entrance of Sunset Crater Nat'l Monument in Flagstaff. Paved road and sites, flush toilets.
For Sedona we always stay at Dead Horse Ranch State Park in nearby Cottonwood. It's a beauty. Lots to do in the area, including Jerome which you can see sparkling at night from the campground. It's a short non-congested drive into Sedona.
Have a good trip!
