We have been to both rims of Grand Canyon. Our first trip we went to the south rim and stayed in Flagstaff and did day trips up to the Canyon. Then in 2010 we went to the North Rim and stayed at Kanab RV Corral which is a lovely full service RV Park north of the canyon just over the border in Kanab, Utah. It's about a 70 mile drive To the north rim, but we did enjoy the scenery along the way, plus Mount Zion Nat. Park was nearby to Kanab as well. We loved the North rim area and said we would go back and stay there some day.
Some day came in June 2013 and we went back and stayed inside the National Park at the North Rim Campground. The elevation there 8,200 ft. so cooler than the south rim. We had 40 degree temps at night and high 60's to low 70's in the daytime. The campground is dry camping, and we ran the generator in the time allowed in the mornings and evenings to charge batteries. Did not need the AC and did run the furnace at night. We had a awesome seven days stay, so peaceful, wonderful hiking, nice store and laundry facilities, and we did not have to fight the masses of people on the south rim. We had a wonderful dinner at the lodge. Vistas were beautiful and nice drives to other viewing spots in the area. Nothing like hearing the wind come up through the canyon in the late evening and sing in the pines, plus the thousands of stars in the sky after dark. The North Rim is our favorite!!
