Help with Oregon Poll!

Having no direct experience with Oregon attractions I sure can use some help sorting out the responses I received to the poll. Surely some of these items can be summarized into the sites for a particular area or zone. In the order of interest and then alphabetically here is what you have given me (I will continue to try to figure these out myself). Please let me know if some of these items can be consolidated.

I don't have the graphics knowledge to create a map. Certainly happy to let someone else try. I was considering finalizing on 4 divisions. Coast road north and south. Interior north and south. With the division between north and south being Hwy 20. Any better alternates? I have already broken them down to a finer level than that in my working database.

Try Google Maps. Help link - https://support.google.com/maps/?hl=en#topic=3032023 It's really easy. Start your map then type an attraction in the search box at the top. A location marker will appear. Zoom in to see if Google has found the correct spot. You can add anything that you want in the information box for each attraction.

I would like to indicate the popularity of a site and don't see how I could do that on a map presentation.

I've made a map for every state to help with trip planning. Many of the attractions that you have on your list are marked on the Oregon map. You can download the map and add the other attractions. Just sign up for a Google account then when you click on any of the map links you'll be also able to click on "Save to My Maps". Once the map is in your maps you can edit and add comments to all of the attractions.

Have a good trip!

I think some of the number 1 can be combined with some of the number 2 and some of the number 3 can be combined with some 4 and 5.

I think you need an Oregon Map and put a dot on all these locations. Then you can group the location together. Good advice from Knowles. How many days you plan on traveling? Seem you're covering a lot of places through out Oregon from North-South and East-West.

I have lived in Oregon most of my long life, and after school, worked in southern Oregon for 28 years, and had 10 days vacation that the family took going to a section of Oregon most of the time. With all of those years, we didn't even come close to seeing all of the state. How much time do you have?? Do the best you can and enjoy. It is a beautiful state.

You have a number of attractions that are accessible from the Bend area:
Lava Caves (there are several in the area), Newberry, Paulina Peak, Sisters, and Crescent Lake, Odell Lake and several other lakes that are along the Cascade Loop SW of Bend. I'm wondering if "Pine, Oregon" is actually La Pine, which is just south of Bend near Newberry Crater. There may be several other places listed that I've missed that could be lumped into the "Greater Bend Vacation Spot" Whenever we head to the OR coast, we try to spend several days to a week in Bend.

Heading south from Bend you'll get to Crater Lake. Nearby Diamond Lake is a place where some here like to camp to visit Crater Lake. Theilsen View CG is one of the CG's on Diamond Lake.

Timberline Lodge is on Mt. Hood.

As for the coastal attractions, you almost need to break it up into north, central, and southern coastal attractions. I'd say see the whole coast, but as you can see from the list, there are weeks of things to keep you busy along the coast. When we went to the OR coast a couple of years ago, we spend something like 16 days on the southern half of the OR coast and still felt rushed.

How many days are you talking about - your list covers most of the State. I have lived here 30 years and still haven't seen everything on your list.

Oregon has outstanding coast and some of the best State Parks in the Country. We camp at Beverly Beach near Newport which has several items on your list. Coming from Portland we can stop at the Evergreen Air Museum on the way to the Coast. From Newport we head north to Fort Stevens State Park and hit the casino at Lincoln City - then Canon Beach/Haystack Rock and the Tillamook Cheese Factory on the way North.

Multnomah Falls and the Columbia River Gorge are a must see - easy day trip from Portland or you can see on your way to Central Oregon which has a number of items on your list.

The campgrounds on your list are all nice - but as stated almost all the State Campgrounds are exceptional.

Haven't spent much time in Eastern Oregon - so can't comment on that part of the State.

Hi Doug,

I don't know when you are planning your trip but Oregon has some really neat free travel guides. Google it and you can order whatever you need!

Oregon State Parks puts out a nice camping/recreation/heritage site book also.

You have Multnomah Falls listed twice that is in Columbia River Gorge with additional interests listed that are also in the Gorge (Museum and River Bar). Attractions in Newport (Newport Aquarium, Oregon Coast Aquarium (same aquarium) and city of Newport) listed three times along with Beverly Beach which is just a few miles from Newport. Then you have the air museum in McMinville listed twice (Evergreen and McMinville).

Hope this helps..
