How Many RV Sites In the Rockport Area

Does anyone have an educated guess as to how many RV sites were in the Rockport, Fulton, Mustang Island, Port Aransas area?
  • RVParkreviews.com shows 54 parks in and around Rockport so there must be at keazt at least several thousand.
  • Probably not as many as before since Harvey struck down there!
  • Wonder if the Hungry Fisherman is still around. We were there probably 10 years ago - it was very popular then. I think it was near Rockport.
  • You must have ate at the Big Fisherman the last year it was opened. It has been shut down for at least 8 years. The old man that owned it died and his kids didn't want to take it over. His daughter opened her own place near Ingleside last year. Heard she was doing a good business but we didn't' stop in.

Yes, it has been a few years since we were at the Hungry Fisherman.
Everyone seemed to enjoy going there. Thanks for the update.
  • Thanks for the answer rk911. I too went to RV Park reviews but trying to figure out the size of the RV parks was difficult. Given the devastation in the area I doubt there will be much left in the way of support services and businesses for Winter Texans this year. I am sure some Winter Texans will return just for the fishing, but I wonder what the others will do and how many others there are.

If any of the readers here are regular winter visitors to that area would you please chime in with what your plans are?

We were in Rockport last winter and have plans to go back. The park we will be staying at will be back accepting reservations once power is restored. Bay View, on the other end of town, is expected to be back in business on Sept 15. We like the area and what we spend$ will help in their recovery. Heck, I might even find a decent paying part-time job
  • I wonder about the businesses in the area. From the aerial views I saw the hardest hit areas were a few blocks either side of hwy 35 which is where most of the businesses are. That area was devastated. Don't know if they will be re-built in time for snowbirds this year. The park we stayed in will be open after they clean up all the debris and trees as their home and buildings received little damage. They are about 10 blocks away from the coastline. The ones between 35 and the coast ????
