We are dreaming of becoming snowbirds, hopefully next year. My question is how and where do you do internet banking such as transferring money and checking accounts. This past summer we went on an extended road trip and had things set up before and when we stayed with a family member we could use their protected internet to check accounts etc.Any campgrounds we stayed at all had public access internet but I didn't want to be doing personal banking on it.thanks

We do, however, use Verizon cellular service on occasion. While I'm sure it can be done, i've never heard of anyone hacking a cellular connection ( other than the government ) so we are not too concerned about using it.While traveling or long term stays in the RV we primarily use iPads for most internet work, but we do have a laptop which I can use through my iPad's Verizon hotspot.

I use anything available for bill paying. Never had a problem. If nothing is available, my cell phone becomes a hotspot.

Internet? Use your smart phones hotspot, or buy a mifi box from ATT or Verizon.

We travel with the( Verizon jet pack) have good connect ability and feel very secure with all transactions from our computer. JMHO

I will not use public WiFi for any important secure activity. We do, however, use Verizon cellular service on occasion. While I'm sure it can be done, i've never heard of anyone hacking a cellular connection ( other than the government ) so we are not too concerned about using it.

In 10 years full time I had very limited success with park/fast food Wi-Fi spots. Most (especially rv parks) are useless. Don't do much banking via internet (have set up auto pay on all credit cards and recurring bills) but would never use public Wi-Fi for that.

You're at an extremely higher risk of having security problems by the websites you visit, or the e-mails that you open vs using a public wifi.

Year after year we get these warnings about public wifi, but I've yet to see anything proven or statistics of any kind. You know, evidence.

X2 ^^. This is the solution for many full-timers and works well for us. No way I would use a public wi-fi network for security-sensitive needs such as banking.
