I also am sorry to hear of your loss.
I am in Vermont this week, and indeed most every week. I'm fortunate enough to live here (up towards Lake Champlain and Burlington area).
It is a beautiful part of the country. It's been rather rainy the past couple days and will be a couple more days, but the weekend is looking like it will be pretty nice for you. The leaves around here are just starting to think about turning some; it may be a little further along in the Northeast Kingdom. As it's Columbus Day weekend, it will be rather busy most everywhere.
If you are in the general area, exploring Smuggler's Notch can be a good time; there are some nice hikes (some pretty gentle) up in the state park, and the drive through the notch is lovely...but not at all suitable for an RV.
