Las Cruces, NM to San Diego, CA

Any good suggestions for a mid point RV park? Just an overnight stay. Case Grande seems to be the mid point but many of the parks are age restricted. Will be traveling with a teenager.
  • Quail Trail is fine for overnight (call first) in Gila Bend or Picacho Peak. Palm Creek is nice and say hi to Stacey (stripit) for me if you stop there...tell him I still remember the MS lunch.
  • Palm Creek
I believe for just overnight they allow under 55 people. Easy to get to at exit 194 off of I-10 by about 1 mile. Might be worth a call to see.
  • Not! Cactus Country RV Resort in Tuscon. Only park we've ever left immediately and barely got out due to park rd. conditions.
Wish I could make a positive suggestion, but it's a 55+ camp...Desert Valley RV Resort in Eloy AZ.
There were several nice camps near Benson AZ on hwy80 (maybe Cochise Terrace), but I don't remember if we stayed or just drove thru. No horrible memories. Just not much in the desert.
  • X2 on Picacho Peak State Park. Nice open big sites and a mile off I-10.
  • A little short of Casa Grande, but a neat place to camp with Saguaros around you at Picacho Peak State Park.

I see there is a small RV park in Gila Bend as well, on the other side of Casa Grande. Holt's Shell RV Park is a Passport America park.

Never been to the one Gila Bend, but did overnight once at Picacho Peak, may years ago.

Also found this one: Jim Kortsen West Pinal Co Park

Hadn't seen or heard anyone say Lost Causes since 1971 when the KOA's owner's son used that term. When we came out to interview for a job. :h Never cared for the term.
  • If you don't mind going about 20 miles out of your way, overnight for free at the Casino south of Maricopa.Get off on milepost 151 and head north.Theres a lot in Gila Bend at exit 119 you can stay.Used by truckers.
