  • As I said, The Oasis RV Resort. We were there last week, 114 one day. Had the 5er plugged with both AC's blasting. We were away from the trailer all day and would return about 6:00 PM to a nice cool place to relax. No starting the Gen and waiting for the cool down to happen.

Where is best place (safest) for one or two nights of blacktop boondocking in or near Las Vegas?

    Thanks

Nick, I wouldn't even try to boondock in or near Las Vegas this time of year. You would want full hookups to run the AC 24 hours a day.

"Blacktop Boondocking", now that's a new term for me. Didn't know they had blacktop in the boondocks!!
  • It is hot in vegas so boondocking will require you to run the generator to keep cool, and at say 1/2 gallon of gas per hour, you will burn 4 gallons at $4.00 a gallon it will cost you a minimum of $16.00 for 8 hours, ad $20.00 for 10 hours. I would find a RV park and have hookups and keep cool without the noise and exhaust of the gen set. Just my opinion
  • I've never seen level enough ground to camp at RR pass - but I guess it's done.
  • X 2 to Railroad Pass Casino. We usually eat supper in the casino dining room to "pay our way", but I doubt if they care one way or the other.
  • Behind the Paris Hotel there is a large parking lot and a street. Look it up on Google Earth. When we were there the beginning of June I notice motorhomes parked in the parking lot & on the Street. When I return the next day they seem to be in the exact same place. Can only assume they stayed the night. Easy walk to the Strip. We stayed at the Oasis which is a PassPort Park and was half price. Not worth boondocking and if you don't have a toad, the bus is only a block away.

  • You can boondock at Railroad Pass Casino in Henderson just outside of Las Vegas if coming in on US95. If you are coming N on I15 there is a huge parking area behind Buffalo Bills Casino in Primm that allows boondocking. Both of these areas are probably as safe as you will find.

I doubt the Oasis is a place to boondock.

Try the Rio. But dang, can you stand the heat?? It's gonna be 114 today.
  • The Oasis RV Resort is a great place. We stay there every year. It is located at the south end of Vegas on the east side of the 15 Fwy across from Bass Pro Shops.

They have an adults only pool if you don't want to hang with the kids at the family pool. A lounge, cafe, gym and so on. We love to set in the white sand beach area, in the shade with a rum & coke and complain about the heat......it's hot, I need some more ice...:-)
