  • Ya sort of old news but if passed would be one step closer for us staying longer. My guess is the IRS changes needed and the provincial health changes required (in my case from 7 to 8 months) not to mention that my Blue Cross will not give more than 6 months even though my province allows 7 months out, will make me too old to go.

    If I remember correctly, this bill has been in the works for several years now. It would permit an 8th month stay from an immigration perspective. Unfortunately it is disconnected from the IRS who will levy income tax beyond 180 days or sooner depending upon your 8840 Form declaration.

    Also it does not change the time permitted out of Canada from a benefits perspective which is different from province to province.
