You haven't missed anything. Leisure Lakes is your best bet easy drive but I355 is a tollroad IPASS or EasyPass accepted.

We're now fulltimers from Chicago area and often return for weddings and such find it easier to leave the RV at a park like Leisure Lakes and just get a hotel room near the event for the night. We do have friends in the area that will dogsit for a night.

Have you tried RV Park Reviews? Over the years I have found that to be the best then with backup from on here.

Blackwell is much closer and about 1/2 the commute time to Lombard. Google Map it. That said, camping is open Friday and Saturdays only except around the holidays.

There aren’t many options, probably because the land is too valuable in the west suburbs. The Kane County Forest Preserve has some campgrounds which are first come, first serve, but you still will have a long drive. If you are happy with Leisure Lakes, I would continue to stay there. There is a KOA out in Union, but it wouldn’t be any closer.

Google maps is usually what I use.

Thank you! That is about 45 minutes away as well! I guess there just isn't anything "close" to Lombard.
